Helpful Tips For Picking The Right Wedding Favors

December 18, 2019 by Rackel Gehlsen Leave a Comment

Weddings are exciting and fun to plan!  You’ve said, “Yes to the dress,” chosen your wedding party and set the date.

Every step of the way, there’s something that needs your attention. You also need to select a theme, color motif, flowers, venue, and many more.

What’s also fun is that you get to choose wedding favors for your guests!

Giving gifts always requires putting some thought into it, and wedding favors are no exception.

With so many choices out there, it can be stressful even to narrow it down. I understand if you’re stumped and don’t know where to begin.

Don’t worry; I can help you!

Here are useful tips to guide you in choosing the best wedding favors for your celebration.

wedding party favors

Choose something usable.

You may be tempted to choose a wedding favor that’s pretty but has no use because that’s what a lot of online recommendations suggest.

Instead of going for something decorative, how about picking something practical?

Other items might be left to gather dust in the long run or even be kept in the attic, never to be seen nor remembered again.

Worse, if the guest didn’t like the wedding favor, they might just throw it or give it away.

To reduce the likelihood of these unfortunate scenarios, the best favors to choose are those that can be used, like luggage tags, picture frames, or even personalized decanters.

These items have a purpose and keep the memory of your wedding alive. A good rule of thumb is if the gift is something you would enjoy receiving, then that’s probably a good sign that you’re on the right track.

inexpensive wedding favors

Have a variety of wedding favors.

If you can’t choose between your top two choices for wedding favors, why not get them both?

It is a popular wedding trend to have separate wedding favors for men and women because it may be challenging to settle on a gift that’s acceptable for all.

By differentiating the wedding favors, more guests will be satisfied with what they end up getting.

Scented candles, essential oils, and keychains are a hit with women, while men prefer shot glasses, flasks, or even tie clips.

Having different wedding favors shows preparedness, and you’re sure to please everybody.

edible wedding favors

Think of edible wedding favors.

Another emerging trend with wedding favors is picking something that the guests can consume.

Everybody loves food!

This is an excellent idea because they can eat it at the reception already.

Cookies and cupcakes are popular choices because they are cute and tasty. Make sure to be informed of the guests’ allergies so everyone can enjoy the edible favor.

Should there be any leftovers, you don’t have to worry about where to hide it in the house – you can stash it in the fridge and eat it later on.

unique wedding favor ideas

Consider customized travel-related items.

If your venue is at some remote place, then your guests must have unquestionably come a long way to get there.

It would be helpful to give them something they can use on their way back as well as for future travels, like travel accessories, packing cubes, or toiletry bags.

Most people don’t know those travel items can be personalized, too, so you’ll be surprising your guests.

You won’t just be giving them a souvenir, but you’ll also be helping them be more organized. For me, that’s a win-win situation right there!

useful wedding favors

Make your own wedding favors.

Common wedding favors might not have the same appeal as homemade products, so if you have enough time on your hands, why not just make the gifts?

You have a lot of options like soaps and perfumes.

You should consider this if you can’t spend too much on wedding favors. Even though it is a cheaper option, you’ll be able to show off your skills at the same time.

You’ll also be more fulfilled when you see that what you made is bringing joy to other people, compared to when you buy something in bulk.

Wouldn’t that be amazing?

groomsmen gift ideas

Go for wearable items.

Accessories can be a great wedding favor, and your guests will be able to use them often. You can give cuff links to men and earrings or necklaces for the women.

You can also coordinate it with the wedding theme to be even more unique. If it’s a classic wedding, you won’t go wrong with silver and gold jewelry.

If you had a beach ceremony, beaded accessories might work better.

Crystal necklaces and bracelets are pretty standard nowadays, so consider that as well.

By going for accessories as a wedding favor, you have the freedom to be as creative as you want.

custom wedding favors

Unique out-of-the-box ideas.

If you want to stray away from traditional ideas like luggage tags and clip ties, a new wedding favor trend is giving your guests items that grow.

These cute little seedlings or succulents will make your guest’s heads turn. The seedlings will grow and help keep the world a little greener while the succulents can be kept as a cute desk or house decoration.

Your guests will be able to take these unique plants and be thankful, and they are adorable just to look at.

Keep these tips in mind to guide you in your decision-making.

Plan ahead of time so you wouldn’t have to panic and settle for a gift that you don’t want to give. No matter which wedding favor you end up choosing, the most important thing to remember is that it should come from the heart.

Guests can feel it if the gift was rushed and impersonal, so trust your gut and pick the wedding favor that feels right.
